This season Dell'Acqua kept the message quite pure and the collection was better for it.

Couture shapes are enjoying a moment in Paris this week. There were duchesse satin poufs at the Saint Laurent spectacular under a sparkling Eiffel Tower last night, and today at the Rochas show in the Pavillion Ledoyen, Alessandro Dell’Acqua explored exaggerated, elegant volumes too. The collections are worlds away from each other, but the starting points are the same: the midcentury work of Paris’s masters. Rochas is a heritage house—like so many in Paris—only Monsieur Rochas remains less well known than Monsieur Saint Laurent. Still, Dell’Acqua’s fancy clothes fulfill a need. The label is well-represented at online retailers and it does a bang-up shoe business.
