Unlike previous examples of artist-designer collaborations, which largely involve using an artist’s print on an already-existing garment (see, for example, Yayoi Kusama and Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, or Murakami and Vuitton, or anyone and Vuitton for that matter), Yi Zhou designed the actual garments, including going to the brand’s factory in Rimini to work with the samplers. And even better: she has a huge social media network in China, which will presumably be deployed in support of this project.
